I had a little bit of knowledge already about Dutch by watching some YouTube videos. Since I live in a different timezone, group courses weren't an option. I took the level 2 with private classes and the level 1 as a self-paced course. I was really surprised with how variated and especially how interactive the self-paced courses are.
I joined the level 3 course in October but really wanted to brush up the basics as I did them by unstructured self-study. I learned so much more than expected and the feedback given by Koen really turned my prior knowledge in to a solid foundation that made the level 3 course much easier to follow.
Personally, I set very high standards for a course and a teacher, but I think Koen did a great job on these courses. From his Level 5 & Self-study course, I learnt a lot and gained many new insights about the Dutch language. His course always offers something new to learn, things you often miss in other courses.

SociaTaal Self-Paced courses consist of logically structured modules with grammar exercises, listening and reading exercises and interactive practice materials such as fill-in the blanks, multiple choice, voice recordings puzzles and much more. There are also two live check-in sessions in which we discuss any extra questions, needs or feedback you might have.
Yes! In each Self-Paced course there are two live elements, which are 20 minute, 1 on 1, check-in sessions.
All necessary materials, including course materials, videos, and exercises, are provided as part of the course. Everything is taken care of.
Yes, in the last week of the course you will do an exam which serves as a big recap of the course. You will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course.
No, there are no extra costs. The enrollment for a course is €149 and that includes everything you need.
Absolutely! Nederlands Level 1 is tailored for complete beginners and people with little knowledge about Dutch. Not sure about your level? Book an intake call and get your level assessed!
SociaTaal’s course levels are linked to the Common European Framework of Reference
for languages (CEFR). This framework is a widely recognized framework that provides a
common basis for describing language proficiency levels. A Dutch course for complete
beginners goes from A0 to A1- level. At SociaTaal we simply call it: Nederlands level 1.
A1 | Beginner: Learners at this level can understand and use basic phrases,

● C2 | Proficient: This is the highest level of language proficiency, where learners

academic purposes.
